Last night, for the first time ever, the Friends of the Library awarded three graduating seniors each $1,000 Nancy Robinson Memorial Scholarships. It was a beautiful graduation ceremony in Fort Davis, Texas. This class of 20 graduates was awarded over $140,000 in scholarships.
Jessica Turner has been accepted to Texas State University at San Marcos to study Mass Communications. Jessica has been known for her competitive nature, sense of purpose, and set standards, along with her participation in debate teams, U.I.L., sports, music, and theatre.
Cesar Chavez will be attending the University of Texas Permian Basin in the fall to study mechanical engineering. His father has been his inspiration “to never give up” and always pursue his goals.
A career in agricultural law is what lies ahead for Ashleigh Pasqua, guided by her 4-H Livestock Association role as student ambassador for the past two years. Ashleigh plans to work for the Texas Farm Bureau and “to give back to the community that has given so much to help achieve” her dreams.

Come join in the fun on Friday, May 9th when children at Dirks-Anderson Elementary School celebrate National Ride for Reading Day. A team of volunteers will assemble at Memorial Square and fill their backpacks with books to bring to over one hundred school kids. They will bike their way to the school and be greeted in the gymnasium where the children can select free books donated by Better World Books. This event is sponsored by Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library.
