November 7th – Marcia Hatfield Daudistel & Bill Wright

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7th at 6 p.m.

The Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library invite you to a reception to welcome local authors with their exciting new books.  Marcia Hatfield Daudistel of El Paso will discuss her newest history, Women of Smeltertown. Called the “largest industrial city on the Rio Grande” this a compilation of stories of women who lived, raised families, and promoted their culture in the shadow of the smokestacks of Smeltertown that will fascinate readers.

Abilene resident who lives part-time in Fort Davis, Bill Wright describes Maggie Smith, Border Legend as an early doctor, lawyer, midwife, herbalist, banker, self-appointed Justice of Peace and coroner, or as she was called, The Whole Damn Cheese.  This is the first book devoted entirely to the woman whose life in Big Bend Country became legendary.

After the discussion, both books will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. Please mark your calendars and join us at the library!
