An Indian Summer Dream

An Indian Summer Dream

An Indian Summer Dream brought to you by Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library. This free event will be performed by Sul Ross State University Drama Department under the direction of Dona Roman with passages from Shakespeare’s dark tragedy.

Sunday, October 14, 2018, 4 pm at Hotel Limpia

The three witches from the opening scene of Macbeth will set the tone for Shakespeare’s macabre drama planned for this Sunday, October 14 at 4 p.m. in the garden of the Hotel Limpia.  Known for the lines, “Fair is foul, and foul is fair” and also “Double, double, toil and trouble” the portrayal of witches will be performed by students of Professor Dona W. Roman from the Sul Ross Theatre Program. Sponsored by the Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library, the free program will present excerpts from Macbeth as a forty-five minute sampler with scenes from Acts One and Two that foretell the rise and fall of the King of Scotland.  It is a preview for the full-length play that will take place at Sul Ross beginning October 26th.

A new spin on the original “Midsummer Night’s Dream Garden Party,” this production will be re-introduced as an Indian Summer Dream since, as one member noted, “the best dreams begin with a good book.”  The program is a fundraiser for the Friends who promote and support the activities of the library.  Tickets are still available for purchase featuring three great prizes: a silver and gold bracelet donated by the gift shop of the Museum of the Big Bend (value $175), a pair of bicycles from Porter’s Thriftway (value $150), and two gift tins of pecans from the Davis Mountain Nut Company  with a basket of new books (value $360). In case of inclement weather, the program will take place in the ballroom of the Hotel Limpia.

Tickets for drawing on sale at the Post Office Wednesday, 10/10 and Friday, 10/10 from noon to 2pm and at Hotel Limpia just prior to the event. Only 200 tickets will be sold so your chance of winning is good! $5 each or 5 for $20.

Rain or Shine. In the event of inclement weather, Macbeth will take place in the ballroom of the Hotel Limpia.  The show must go on!
